DRIVE LESS, LIVE MORE: THE FUTURE OF TOWN LIVING STARTS HERE
As town living continues to evolve, so too do the ways we get around. Elysian Court, a new development of seven two- and three-bedroom family homes in St Saviour’s Road, is designed with this shift in mind, offering all the convenience of urban life without the burden of owning a car.
Developed by Castletree Homes, with support from local investment firm Hawk, the project is the first in Jersey to go live under the new zero-parking guidelines introduced through the Bridging Island Plan. Instead of parking spaces, each home is sold with three years of access to EVie’s Credit Mobility Platform, Jersey’s shared electric-vehicle scheme.
“It’s a modern solution to a modern challenge,” says Jeff Worthington, managing director of Castletree Homes. “Town living shouldn’t mean compromise. These homes are high-quality, energy-efficient and ideally located – and, by partnering with EVie, we’re giving buyers a smarter, greener way to stay mobile without needing to own a vehicle.”
Each household receives £70 of monthly EVie credit, redeemable via the app across a growing fleet of more than 50 electric vehicles. The nearest EVie hub – just 100 metres from Elysian Court – offers five cars ready to book, unlock and drive on demand. For buyers, it’s a simple app-based solution that includes insurance, servicing and free charging as standard.
Nick Perchard-Rees, chief executive of EVie, believes this type of partnership is key to unlocking the future of sustainable urban living.
“Whether you need a car for an hour or a week, you only pay for the time you drive. EVie offers a greener, more convenient way to get around – and it supports the wider goals of reducing congestion, cutting emissions and easing pressure on town parking,” he says.
EVie’s app makes the process seamless. Users scan their driving licence, upload a selfie and typically receive approval within 24 hours. Once registered, they can view available vehicles, make bookings and manage payments within the app.
The EVie CMP, established with help from the Digital Jersey Impact Fund, now operates across St Helier and in 11 of the Island’s parishes. The A2B two-seater vehicles can be reserved just 15 minutes before use and cost from £8.95 per hour, perfect for a quick airport run or supermarket dash. For larger needs, EVie’s A2A round-trip vehicles (vans, BMWs and seven-seaters) can be booked up to three months ahead and returned to their original hub. Child seats are available to pre-book where required.
As well as private buyers, local businesses and housing providers such as Andium are embracing EVie’s CMP, using it as a flexible way to reduce car dependency and expand employee benefits. Users benefit from discounted usage rates, simplified monthly billing and reduced admin.
“Last month alone, our vehicles were used for over 1,000 trips,” says Nick. “More and more people are rethinking what car access really means.”
With its strong environmental credentials, sought-after location and forward-thinking transport solution, Elysian Court sets a new benchmark for modern island living.
