EVie van hire now available on the Bridge

EVie van hire is now available on the Bridge thanks to Guernsey Post, who have teamed up with Guernsey Electricity (GEL) to provide an additional location on the island.

The new electric van, situated outside the power station on the Bridge in St Sampson’s, adds to GEL's fleet, who offer a further 3 vans for hire at their headquarters in St Peter Port.

Shaun Prinsloo, GEL’s Head of Commercial, said the new EVie van would “drive forward the island’s push for cleaner transport, making access to electric vehicles simpler and more convenient for islanders”.

Mr Prinsloo said the new van had the added bonus that people could buy their TVs, vacuum cleaners, and white goods from the company’s retail store and take them home in a “cost-effective and low-carbon” way.

Niall McSwiggan, Chief Finance Officer at Guernsey Post, said the company’s partnership with EVie had “helped islanders make over 4,500 low-carbon journeys since 2023”.

He added: “The hourly electric van hire service makes it easier for islanders to choose electric for those bigger, everyday jobs – whether that’s moving house, making deliveries or a trip to the recycling centre.

“This new location offers another option for customers, helps reduce emissions and supports the Island’s journey towards a cleaner, more sustainable transport system.”

Islanders can hire an EVie van by downloading the EVie app, registering their details, and booking a slot. New users can also use the code GEL2026 to receive £10 off their first booking.
